As I move beyond the half way point for the 31 Plays in 31 Days, I see some themes and ideas developing.
One is a play that is a collection called "Vigil" of three very short plays -- "The New Beginning", "Chainsaw Massacre", and "O Timeless Night". Each of them deals with situations that drive the characters to make extreme choices to end their dependence on technology and reconnect with Nature. The first one begins at dawn, the second one in the afternoon, and the other one at dusk leading into dawn. A 24-hour display of vigilance against that interferes with our connection to Nature.
Another idea I've been playing with is taking characters from a 10-minute play I wrote several months ago, called "Sustainable development" and expanding the characters out into other scenes involving other characters. This might be more in line with a teleplay of the same name -- "Sustainable Development" -- and would involve a large cast probably not suitable for the stage... ???
Day 15 and still on it. Tomorrow I'll report on my monologue, "The New Blood", and its performance by Conor Marren in Dublin, Ireland, as part of "Connecting Creativity" -- 10 Actors. 10 Writers. 2 Continents.
